Hohentauern lies at an elevation of 1.274 m above sea level on the Triebener-Tauern Pass and is with just under 400 inhabitants the smallest municipality in Styria. A diverse range of sports and leisure activities in summer and winter is here – the lifts of the small, snow-secure family ski area Moscher are within walking distance.
The Postbus runs between Judenburg and Trieben and makes several stops in the municipality of Hohentauern. From the station in Trieben trains go, among others, to St. Michael in der Obersteiermark and to Schladming. A local provider, doctor, pharmacy, bank, post office, inn, cafe, hairdresser and cosmetics are available in the village.
The Red-Bull-Ring is reachable in 40 driving minutes and the ski and hiking area Lachtal you reach in 35 minutes – in the same time you are also in the city of Judenburg.
