Bernhardsthal is the ideal starting point for cycling and hiking tours through the scenic landscape of the Weinviertel tri-border area.
Only a few minutes' walk from the property is the largest landscape pond in the Weinviertel with around 25 hectares of water surface. This invites walking, hiking and pedal boating. A special sight is the historic Kaiser-Ferdinand-Nordbahn brick railway bridge from 1839, the oldest preserved railway structure in Austria.
Weinviertel is Austria's largest wine-growing region with around 13,000 hectares and is well known far beyond the borders for its Grüner Veltliner. Many cellars, wine bike routes and traditional heurigen shape the region.
Because of the close proximity to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the region offers a diverse leisure and cultural scene. The Leiser Mountains with the Buschberg, the highest point in the Weinviertel, are a popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers.
Also striking are the March-Thaya floodplains, among the most beautiful and ecologically valuable wetland landscapes in Central Europe. The rivers March and Thaya can be explored excellently by canoe or kayak.
