Rent mir purchase option – creating ownership in the long term

If the legal requirements are met, there is a claim to subsequent transfer of the apartment into ownership. An application can be made at the earliest after 5 years and at the latest until the expiry of the 20th year of the use agreement. The financing contribution paid will, according to the currently applicable legal situation, be credited to the purchase price.

Legal requirements apply for the entitlement to the purchase option. In principle, Austrian citizens and persons who have been continuously and lawfully residing in Austria for more than five years and can provide a corresponding examination certificate from the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) are eligible. In addition, there are statutory equalities, including for EEA-privileged persons.

Those who choose a normal rental apartment without a purchase option should note that the documents do not provide for a subsequent conversion into an apartment with a purchase option.
