About this apartment
This highly prestigious building on the corner of Bauernmarkt was first mentioned on this site in 1374.
The current building was constructed in 1880–1881 by Karl Quidenus, an Austrian architect and city planner, in the late historicist style.
It later housed Café Rebhuhn, where Joseph Roth, the famous journalist and writer, was a regular.
Today, behind its classical façades, the listed building houses a modern, vibrant mix of restaurants, upmarket office space and exclusive city apartments. This diverse and established mix of tenants lends the building additional charm and a very special atmosphere. Important elements of the historic fabric have been preserved throughout the interior of the building.
The entire building is maintained with attention to detail and in accordance with conservation guidelines, carefully renovated and constantly maintained, and is consequently in an excellent overall condition.
The asymmetrical façade is characterised on the upper storey by alternating rectangular windows and antique Ionic windows set on volute corbels, whilst the stepped gables feature striking portrait busts. On the left-hand side, a two-storey bay window, divided by pilasters and resting on massive volute corbels, dominates the view. A cartouche bears the date 1881.
This charming, bright penthouse flat is situated on the 3rd floor.
The lift on the ground floor is accessible via a few steps.
It measures about 84,5 m² and impresses with its spacious rooms.
With its 2 large rooms, it offers exceptional comfort right in the city centre.
The inviting, modern and fully fitted kitchen, offers ample space for a dining table.
The living area features high-quality parquet flooring, whilst the wet rooms are fitted with contemporary tiles.
The flat has a ceiling height of over 3.20 metres and is heated by district heating.
