The town of Braunau am Inn forms a cross-border center with the opposite German town municipality Simbach am Inn in Bavaria.

Linzerstraße is one of the longest and most splendid streets of Braunau's old town.

As the name already indicates, one could once reach Linz via this street.

In its long history the street housed numerous city-important establishments such as the Mayrbräu brewery, in whose walls today the Altstadthotel Mayrbräu is located.

The history as a fortress town is still evidenced today by visible parts of the fortifications and the Iron Horse, which recalls the last slaughtered horse during a long siege by Austrian troops and that after the end of the Second World War it was used as a target.

Today Linzerstraße invites strolling with its shops, cafés and wine bars.
