NEW fee exemption for real estate purchases:

Since 1 April 2024 buyers up to a basis of assessment of 500,000 Euro (per person) can be exempt from land registry entry fees for ownership rights and for the mortgage right (1.1% of the purchase price or 1.2% of the mortgage value). If the basis of assessment exceeds 500,000 Euro, only the excess portion is subject to the entry fee. From a basis of assessment of 2 million Euro, the exemption is completely waived. Applications for entry in the land register must be submitted between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2026. The exemption requires both registration of the main residence in the acquired property and the ceasing of the rights of residence in the previous apartment. In credit-financed purchases, more than 90% of the loan must be used for acquisition or renovation of the property. The acquired home must be occupied for five years; if sold earlier or if it is no longer the main residence, the fee will be increased retroactively.
