The listed, late Baroque house was built towards the end of the 18th century, around 1770, and renovated in 1804. The early historic façade dates from 1849. Distinctive features of this beautiful property include prominent rounded-arch windows in the middle bays and a wall fountain with a stone mask of a sea monster in the forms of the fading Rococo in the first inner courtyard. The complex covers 923m² of land. Both staircases are connected by two idyllic inner courtyards. In the first inner courtyard two apartments have Pawlatschen; in the second courtyard there are two balconies.

First owners go back to the 16th century. There have been numerous well-known owners and residents over the years:

Imperial scribes and equerries as well as Jesuit priests of St. Anna, the great pioneer and poet Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, the first woman to receive the Austrian Decoration for Arts and Sciences and the honorary doctorate from the University of Vienna, or the academic sculptor Rudolf Weyr, who, beside many monuments in Vienna, also decorated the Hermesvilla, the Burgtheater or the Peterskirche with his works and left his mark at the Grillparzer monument, at the Peterskirche and on the Nußdorfer bridge pedestals on the Nußdorfer "Löwenbrücke".

A house that has always housed special residents and the highest quality.

The jewel is protected as a monument and during renovation and restoration has been treated with great care so that the many wonderful details of the house, the statues and reliefs of the façade, the round-arch windows, the window reveals and parapets are preserved.

From the 18th century planned Bosketten (little woods) in the rear garden area of the then-called Steinitzhaus, from garden parterres with beaded central axes, little remains in the densely built district of Landstraße. The ornate elements of the 1849-renewed façade, the pilasters with their relief heads, the water-spewing dolphin in the courtyard and many other delicate features that were commissioned by the then-owner during the 19th century have been preserved and are being preserved. This owner originally came from Kronstadt in Transylvania and came to Vienna in 1831 to become a pharmacist. He later became famous with the Glanzwichse for leather goods, invented soon after his arrival in Vienna. The popular folk singer Wilhelm Wiesberg even dedicated his own couplet to the Fernolendt Shoe Polish. And the so imaginatively adapted building on Landstraßer Hauptstraße 74 soon became the “Haus Fernolendt.”

The beautiful house was revitalized: Two new sewer lines were installed and connected to the sewer. Electrical and water supply lines were renewed. Shafts for the new supply lines were excavated in the stairwells. The stairwells were replastered and repainted.

The lift in Staircase 1 runs from the ground floor to the 1st attic floor, the lift in Staircase 2 runs from the basement to the 1st attic floor.

The façade was comprehensively revitalized. In the basement on Staircase 2, new, dry basement compartments were created. In the converted attic, four new apartments with terraces were built. The expansion and the revitalization of the building were completed in the summer of 2020.

For the new entrance door, the owners are currently defining the design.

On the ground floor of the house is the High-End Food Court by Johannes Lingenhel. In the food and gastronomy workshop with the in-house cheese shop, puristic cuisine is offered.

The location is excellent. The Rochus market, the city park, everyday stores and public transport are at the doorstep. Vienna Mitte Station can be reached in a 10-minute walk (800m). Here, the CAT high-speed connection to the airport as well as the U4 and U3 and numerous regional train and S-Bahn connections are available.
