NEW: Fee exemption for real estate purchases:
Since 1 April 2024 buyers of real estate can be exempt from the land register entry fee for the ownership right up to a basis of 500,000 Euro per person and from the fee for the entry of the pledge up to a basis of overall 500,000 Euro (1.1% of the purchase price or 1.2% of the pledge value) be exempted. If the basis exceeds 500,000 Euro, only the excess portion is subject to the entry fee. From a basis of 2 million Euro, however, the fee exemption is completely cancelled. Applications for entry in the land register must be submitted between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2026. The exemption requires both the registration of the main residence in the acquired property and the relinquishment of the rights of residence in the previous apartment.
