Only until 30.6.2026: Fee exemption when buying real estate:
Since April 1, 2024 buyers can be exempt from the land register entry fee for ownership rights up to a basis of €500,000 per person and from the charge for the entry of the pledge up to a basis of €500,000 in total (1.1% of the purchase price or 1.2% of the pledge value). If the basis exceeds €500,000, only the excess part is subject to the entry fee. From a basis of €2 million, however, the exemption from fees is completely waived. Applications for entry in the land register must be submitted between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2026. The exemption requires both registering the primary residence in the acquired property and relinquishing rights of residence in the previous apartment. In credit-financed purchases more than 90% of the loan must be used for the acquisition or modernization of the property. The acquired home must be occupied for five years; if it is sold earlier or the primary residence is relinquished, the fee is increased retroactively.
