The city - Spittal

Spittal an der Drau lies with about 16,000 inhabitants at the crossroads of the lower Drautal, Liesertal, Millstätter See, Nockberge and Mölltal and is the urban center of upper Carinthia. The district capital Spittal/Drau, with its excellent infrastructure: grocery stores, kindergartens, primary and new secondary schools, general and vocational higher education schools, doctors, banks, pharmacies, a large shopping center and more can be found here. Located in the heart of Upper Carinthia, Spittal/Drau offers a successful symbiosis of tradition and modernity: cultural awareness and historic traces await visitors here as well as bustling life in the many shops and modern shopping centers, in the numerous cafes and restaurants that invite you to browse and linger on their sun terraces. A hint of southern ease is felt when you stroll through the charming old town and the city park, past Porcia Castle - the city’s emblem. Excellent transport connections

Spittal an der Drau is directly connected to the Tauern Motorway A10 with the exits Spittal-Millstättersee, Spittal-Ost, Spittal-Nord and Spittal-Lendorf) and has the Spittal-Millstättersee station (express train stop). Together with the well-developed highway network, rail traffic enables fast connections to Italy, Germany or Slovenia. The international Alpe-Adria Airport is reachable from Spittal in only about 50 minutes by car, the airport in Salzburg in about 1.5 hours. A short vacation by the Adriatic would also be nice - Grado can be reached in about 2.5 hours (about 213 km) and relaxation can begin.
