The forests between Dürrenstein and Ötscher were a particularly cherished and frequently visited possession of the Rothschild family. The greatest building activity around the turn of the century was carried out by the then landowner Baron Albert von Rothschild in the Langau and Holzhüttenboden. There, on a small elevation, the large hunting lodge was built, in which the family stayed during the summer holidays. Guest houses and farm buildings were attached. Further into the valley, Baron Rothschild had many wooden houses built for the forestry employees. To this day, all these buildings in their typical architectural style shape the landscape between Langau and Neuhaus.

This also includes Holzhaus Neuhaus Nr. 14, which formerly served as a residence for forestry workers. In the adjoining stable they could keep cows and chickens for self-sufficiency.

The partly cellarled house offers approximately 80 m² of cozy and rustic living space on 2 floors. On the ground floor there is a large eat-in kitchen, a smaller room, a bathroom, a separate WC and a room used as a workshop.

Via a beautiful wooden staircase you reach the large bedroom on the upper floor. This bright room has a beautiful and functional tile stove and a wooden balcony facing west. There is another small room available on the upper floor. There is also a chamber available in the attic.

With a bit of craftsmanship, this rustic wooden house can shine in new splendor and become a very cozy retreat and recreational residence in the impressive natural landscape of the Ötscher.

Attached and accessible from the house is the former stable building with additional utility and storage areas. There is also a wooden hut at the house. Suitable as a carport or also for storing firewood.

The heating of the living rooms is provided by a floor heating system with log combustion, which also supplies heat to the radiators present in the rooms. Additionally, there are functional tile stoves.

A nearby spring supplies the property with water, the wastewater is treated in a small sewage treatment plant belonging to the house.

The surrounding garden plot can be leased and used as needed and in consultation with the Neuhaus forestry administration within the framework of a land use agreement.
