Lachtal is a winter ski resort in the municipality of Oberwölz in Styria. Today, Lachtal is primarily known as a winter sports resort, where international competitions are also held. The ski area has 26 km of pistes and over 10 km of ski routes, accessed by two chairlifts and eight drag lifts. In Lachtal, a valley northeast of Oberwölz, the holiday-home settlement of the same name is located at the head of the valley at an altitude of 1570 m; until the end of 2014, it was part of the municipality of Schönberg-Lachtal, which has since been dissolved. The Lachtal ski area is at an altitude of 1.600–2.222 m.

It has been in existence since 1960 and has been continually expanded and modernized ever since. Lachtal offers not only perfect pistes, but also ideal terrain for freeriders. Lachtal can be reached in just one hour by car from Graz and in two and a half hours from Vienna. Lachtal is also the home of world champion and World Cup winner Nicole Schmidhofer. Lifts and facilities Lachtal covers 150 hectares and is one of the most snow-sure and popular ski areas in Styria.

It offers 25 kilometers of pistes of all difficulty levels, as well as 10 km of ski routes. The ski area is equipped with 2 modern 6-person chairlifts and 8 lifts. Lachtal has the following lift facilities:

Kinder-Lachtal: The ski area offers children a magic carpet, Teddy rope tow, mini slalom, colorful character trails, a wave run and much more. On the new “Wildes Lachtal” adventure trail, the young adventurers encounter deer, hares, Bambi and other woodland animals. Children up to 6 years old ski for free when accompanied by their parents.
