Over the years the property has been lovingly renovated and restored. A gas- and wood-burning heating system with three large buffer storage tanks provides cozy warmth.

So far the estate has served as a seminar house and venue for concerts and performances by world-famous artists.

LOCATION

The estate lies on the edge of the small, quaint town of Pinswang in Tyrol (824 m) near the district capital Reutte in the Außerfern, just behind the border to Germany at Füssen in the Allgäu.

Pinswang was first mentioned in the year 1095. The name derives from the Old High German Pinuz, which means “Binse, grassy area with sedges". Already around 200 BC the area of Pinswang was inhabited by Celts.

The Roman road Via Claudia Augusta, of which a section at Kratzer is still walkable, ran through the municipal area. Below Burgschrofen is the cave castle Schloss Loch.

A shell stone suggests that the overhanging rock already offered protection to people in the Stone Age.

The eventful history of the village in the Germany–Austria border region hints at Celtic times—as excavations from the year 1993 revealed. The Roman road Via Claudia Augusta led over Kniepaß through the present-day municipal area to Füssen. This road developed in the Middle Ages into one of the most important trade routes between Augsburg and Rome. So you live on historic ground!

From Pinswang you can also directly access the Lech-Wanderweg. The Lechweg offers a unique natural experience, shaped by the landscape and truly remarkable stories. Over about 125 kilometers the hiker accompanies the Lech: From its source near Formarinsee in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg to the Lechfall in Füssen in the Allgäu.
