This historically significant, listed building has been in the ownership of a respected Gmunden citizen family since about 1914 and is now for sale.

The building requires a comprehensive overall concept for its future use. Renovation and modernization works and the necessary modernization must be carried out in accordance with the provisions of monument protection. Noteworthy are the beautiful, nine-part Gothic "Rotsteinfenster" in the courtyard area and various "Rotsteinportale".

Currently, the two ground-floor commercial premises are in use. One of the two premises is leased on a long-term basis.

In the courtyard there is a carport that provides space for 3 cars and is accessible via Kammerhofgasse.

It consists of ground floor and 3 upper floors (attic), with the lakeside part of the building offering sometimes very beautiful sightlines to the Traunsee.

The total usable area is approximately 1845 m². This is an approximate size calculated by the owner, since only historical plans exist that partly do not reflect the existing substance in its present state. In this area are included passages, courtyard driveway, carport, diverse storage areas and courtyards, stairwells and the attic. No natural measurement was taken, and therefore no warranty for accuracy can be given.

This gem (mentioned in the Gmundner Käuferchronik by Dr. Ferdinand Krackowizer) was first mentioned in 1629 as the house of a salt producer named "Tunzensteiner". In the period between about 1680 and about 1822 the house in Kammerhofgasse 5 ("the so-called Tunzensteinerhaus") served first as a guardhouse or quarter for a part of the Gmunden garrison (History of the City of Gmunden by Dr. Ferdinand Krackowizer).
