Historical
Kreuttal is historically significant in many ways: whether it is buildings like the Kulturhaus or the Holy Mountain, the homeland poet Koloman Kaiser or the president of Uganda, there is much to know about the history of the municipality and its inhabitants. The Chronik chapter offers a wealth of information about these various topics.
In the sixties, the state government and also the population recognized the need to merge small local communities into more capable large municipalities to better manage larger upcoming projects. This was also recognized by the municipal representatives of Hautzendorf, Unterolberndorf and Hornsburg.
In particular, the voluntary merger was characterized by giving the places more freedoms. The voluntariness was also supported with special state funding. Thus, in 1968, from the individual localities Hautzendorf, Hornsburg, Ritzendorf and Unterolberndorf the municipality Kreuttal was formed.
