Recharge and breathe: As a designated spa town, the city of Litschau in the district of Gmünd invites you to a healthy Waldviertel vacation. The northernmost town in Austria lies in the Reißbach Valley – just a stone’s throw from the Czech border. With the scenic Herrensee and the Schönauer Teich, excursion guests will find an idyll of meadows, forest and water. The landscape can be experienced by train via the Waldviertelbahn. The nostalgic Erlebnisbahn invites a train journey between Litschau and Gmünd with lots of views.

Surrounded by the magnificent natural settings of the northern Waldviertel, Litschau sits at an elevation of 470 to 650 meters. For hikes and bike tours, numerous routes – also cross-border – run through the municipality. Since 2007, the community has carried the designation “Luftkurort”. As a spa area, the area around the circular hike around the Herrensee is designated. This also includes an area of the generously designed lido. The forest pool with playground and boat rental includes a freshwater swimming pool and a children's paddling pool as well as the lake. And in winter there is plenty to do here too – ice skating and curling.

Museum tour through Litschau. The four Litschau museums are very worth seeing – from the embroidery and local history museum to the Waldviertelbahn cultural train station with historic wagons. An exciting city tour narrates the history of the city wall, Fischertor and the parish church. A sight from afar is also Schloss Litschau. It sits on a rock in private ownership. Its “Hungerturm” is regarded as the emblem of the historic Schrammelstadt.

Litschau event tips in summer: Schrammelklänge & lots of theater. The multi-day Schrammel Klang Festival – also called the Woodstock of the Wienerlied – invites you musically to the shores of the Herrensee. At the Hin & Weg Theaterfestival, all of Litschau becomes a big stage: from theater in Stadeln and garages to theatre-yoga by the lake to guest performances, concerts and readings on established theatre stages.

Activities in and around Litschau: Hiking, cycling, swimming, golfing, horseback riding, fishing, ice skating and more in the nearby area.

All double beds are box spring beds and all apartments are equipped with a kitchenette and a refrigerator with freezer compartment. Guests can also enjoy their coffee using a Nespressomaschine. Modern Smart TV and free WLAN is of course also available. And to protect your valuables, safes are available in every apartment. For longer stays, a washing machine and a tumble dryer are also available.
